Q: Could you install a Ford Escape engine in a Ford Windstar minivan?
I own a 2000 Ford Windstar and would like to know if I could install a Hybride Ford Escape engine in it. I am puzzled with the fact that in America there is no type of Hybride minivan but plenty of Hybride SUV. Could anyone help?

I have a 2002 Ford Escape that does not have the towing package. I just boat a boat and now need to pick it up. What all do I need? How hard is it?

A: Most of the hitch manufacturers have a hitch that will work, and most are pretty cheap. But be prepared to removed some hardware and FOLLOW the directions. I once had a bolt come loose from the guide wire and a 1.5 hour install turned into 3+ freaking hours under my wife’s new car. (I felt like taking it back to the dealer). With Fords, the hitch is pretty easy, but check to see if you can get an inexpensive wiring harness too. Our old Taurus’ harness was outrageous and I ended up finding a wiring ‘workaround.”

Q: What is the best way to get stains out of an 2006 Ford Escape seats?
Hey, I have an 2006 ford escape and my sister has gotten, pop,water,ect. on my seats. I don’t know how to get the stains out,because these seats stain very badly, and I’am afraid to put soap,and water on the seats,because that may stain them even more? please help if you have any Ideas. or somthing that might help me!! thanks a bunch!

A: Try “Woolite Oxy Deep”. It is made for carpet, but it works so well that I also use it on my upholstery and tough laundry stains. It has gotten out chili and leftover purple candle dye from my carpets and barbecue sauce and jelly and soda from my couch and just about everything else from the laundry. Just follow the directions and test in an inconspicuous place first to be sure it is safe for the fabric. I have never had a problem with it ruining any fabric, but it has gotten out plenty of messes that I thought would be there forever!!!

Q: How to install aux input in Ford Escape?
I have a 2005 Ford Escape with a Mach 6 disc changer in it. I am trying to figure out how to install a aux input jack without spending $70-$80 on a kit. I know you can do it with the right cables. What cables will I need and can I get them somewhere like Radio Shack? How do I go about installing it? I do have a little experience installing car stereos.

A: thats no problem at all radio shack has them for like 25$ and i’m sure if you called a recking yard or unk yard thell have one even cheeper, maybe 10$

Q: Does the oil life monitor in a Ford Escape actually measure the quality of the oil?
The change oil now message is coming on in my new 2009 Ford Escape. We’ve got about 2000 miles on it…all country road driving where it goes 60 mph all the way there for the 40 mile drive. Does it actually mean the oil is going bad? I know the car was built last october. Could it just be that the computer says it has been six months since it was first turned on and it should be changed?

A: There’s no way it can measure the quality of the oil. There’s probably an internal clock that measures time. It may be combined with your odometer to determine that your oil should be changed every 6 months (or whatever time period FoMoCo determines) or xxxx miles. If you use synthetic oil, you can go as much as 2x longer in time and mileage before changing oil.

It’s the car manufacturer’s method of getting you into their dealership for service – and money.

Q: Will 2 adults and a baby seat fit comfortably in the back of a Ford Escape?
There will be 4 adults and a baby seat total. How comfortable will it be for the 2 people in the back with that baby seat there? 2009 Ford Escape or similar.

A: Fit- yes.
Comfortably- that will depend on how big the adults are.

Q: I need help extending range on a ford escape OEM keyless entry remote control.?
I have a 2001 Ford Escape, the transmitter has a range of about 20-30 feet most of the time. I would like to boost it by quite a bit. I would also like to know where the RKE antenna is located in the vehicle, and how to access and identify it. Thanks in advance!

A: Hold the remote up to your chin when operating it…it turns your body into an antenna for more range…not a whole lot but usually better. A geeky electronics guy might be able to modify the remote for more range or pop for an aftermarket unit that works on RF signals…1000 foot range on mine.

I just bought a 2001 ford escape, can you tell me how to put the car into 4 wheel drive correctly? Also the air conditioning is not cold, how can I charge the freon myself? I was looking for a users manual online and cannot find it.

A: They don’t use freon anymore. My Ford Ranger sayd to shift into 4WD HIGH at any time under 50 mph. You have to shift into 4WD LOW while in park or neutral or something like that.

A: The Ford Escape (designated U204) is a compact SUV sold by the automaker Ford Motor Company beginning in the 2001 model year and priced below the Ford Explorer. The Escape was sold in Europe as the Ford Maverick. It was jointly developed with Mazda, in which Ford owns a controlling interest, and was released simultaneously with the Mazda Tribute. In the United States, Ford’s Mercury division released a luxury version called the Mariner starting with the 2005 model year.

A hybrid version of the Escape was released in 2004, making it the first hybrid SUV.

The Escape is built on the Ford CD2 platform, which is in turn based on the Mazda GF platform, which was used by the Mazda 626.

I’m trying to replace the fuel pump on a 2000 Ford Escape. Does some one knows how to disconnect the fuel lines at the fuel pump module on the fuel tank? Thanks.

A: You will need a special tool, available at any good auto parts store for 5-10 bucks. Just tell them you need a fuel line disconnect tool, they will know what you are talking about. By the way, remember to let the fuel pressure off first.

Sorry I should have said that I’m having trouble figuring out how to open the fuel door.

A: Most cars have a lever that is located either on the driver’s door jamb, or in between the driver’s seat and the driver’s door; you will see a picture of a gas tank on the lever, indicating that this is the gas lever. If you can’t seem to find the lever, then try going over to the gas tank yourself; some cars have a raised corner on the door of the gas tank, where you simply insert your finger, and pull it toward you to open the tank.

Q: What are the biggest rims i can put on a ford escape?
I was going to put 22’s on my ford escape 02 xlt but idk if it will rub anyone know?… Its black so i was also mayb gona put some 20’s with bigger tires idk what to do anyone know

A: You could use a combination of larger diameter rims with a “low profile” tire to get the “look” you desire while keeping the same total wheel/tire diameter so it doesn’t rub. You’d best go to a reputable tire/wheel dealer and ask them for a safe combination. Also read your manufacturers warranty information. A different tire/wheel setup other than what came from the factory, may effect your vehicle warranty. The wheels and tires are part of your suspension and have an effect on axles, bearings, transmission and possibly other components.
