Ford Taurus
Are you looking for a Ford Taurus?
Q: Why does my Ford Taurus’ engine performs strangely with the air conditioner on?
About a week ago, my 2003 Ford Taurus started acting bizarre when the air conditioner was operating. Every few minutes while driving, there’s a soft click-like sound simultaneously with a sudden and brief drop in acceleration or RPMs. Then, it almost immediately returns to normal until the next time. It’s difficult to describe, but I’d like to get a general feel for what it could potentially be prior to taking it to the mechanic.
Thanks for any help!
A: There are a number of reasons that this could be happening. Everytime your A/C pump kicks on, it puts a load on the motor. The best thing to do is take it to a mechanic and they will duplicate the problem and figure it out from there. It’s impossible to have somebody tell you what the problem is without looking at it. Possible IAC motor, engine misfire, dirty throttle body, or just a plain ol’ tune-up could fix this problem.
Q: Ford Taurus-strength and weakness of the experimental methods?
What are the strengths and weaknesses of the exploratory, descriptive, causal method for Ford Taurus? How will this method be applied to get the information you need?
A: Whoa! All you’ve done here is to post the ultimate summary question. Where are you stuck? In order to help you, we’d need you to post all the background information for this. I suggest that you back up, read the supporting information, and then come back with more specific questions on the assignment, including your first shot at partitioning the three methods.
There’s not much we can do to help here. Your text should already cover the three methods better than I could here.
Q: How do you change a ball joint on a 91 Ford Taurus station wagon?
Need to change the right front ball joint on our 91 Ford Taurus station wagon. Can anyone give detailed instructions on how to do this? I understand that we may have to take the part, once removed, to a shop to have the old ball joint hammered out and the new one put in, but would appreciate instructions on what to do before and after this point – please include the tools we will need.
Thanks!

Q: Does the parking brake affect the regular brakes on a Ford Taurus?
Today my brakes went out on the highway. When I realized my parking brake was on ad took it off, my brakes seemed to work fine. Do these two have any affect on eachother in a Ford Taurus?
A: It shouldn’t, the emergency brake only operates on the rear wheels, and is applied mechanically by pulling a cable when you depress the emergency brake pedal. On the service brakes, they are operated hydraulically when you press the brake pedal.
Q: How much is the average sales price of a 1997 Ford Taurus Wagon with 35,000 miles left?
How much is the average sales price of a 1997 Ford Taurus Wagon with 35,000 miles left?
A: If the wagon has the base 3.8 liter overhead-valve engine, I would say probably not more than $3,500, despite the low mileage. If it has the optional 3.0 liter DOHC V-6, may be $4,000 or slightly more. If it has the optional engine and goodies like leather seats, six-speaker stereo with CD, etc., maybe closer to $4,500 but not much more. The low mileage may be an attraction to some buyers, but the age of the car coupled with its (somewhat unjustified) mediocre reputation and the current economy will unfortunately keep the resale value low compared to what it originally cost new. By “unfortunately” I say that assuming you’re the seller; it you’re looking to buy one and can get a low-mileage one like this cheap, it’s actually a very good car and a terrific deal (I own a ‘97 sedan myself with 137,000 and the car is still running perfectly).
Q: How can I turn off the interior light in a Ford Taurus X?
I rented a Ford Taurus X this morning, but there’s no owner’s manual come with the car.
Now the two Map lights up on the first row seat can’t be turned off. The main lights on the second and third passenger seats keeps lighting.
They will be turned off when I leave the car. But when I was in the car, there’s no way to manually turn them off!!
If anyone has a manual or knows the car, please help. Thank you!
A: There is a “Panel Dimmer” dial to the right of the “headlamp control” knob. Dial it down a little to turn off the interior lights.
For a photo..Here is a link to the “quick facts” operating guide:

Since you are only renting the vehicle, (i presume short-term) you probably don’t have a need for the entire digital owners manual….but I’ll give you the link to download it anyway… you may have another Q…who knows?

Q: How many watts is the factory amp in a 1997 ford taurus?
I’m going to add an amp and a set of speakers to my ford taurus but I don’t want to get a smaller amp then the factory.
A: the factory amplifier is in the left side of the trunk
the small unit is 14 watts x 4
the jbl system is 20 watts x6 and 40 watts x1 for the woofers
Q: What is everyones opinion on the new Ford Taurus?
Just wondering what the ratings are on the new Ford Taurus and what everyone’s opinions are on it.
A: I disagree with the answer above… i think it is not turning the family car into a sports car i just think it is combining the two. it is keeping the full sized sedan of a taurus but giving it a little power under the hood. with the SHO version that is. but this doesnt mean you have to get the 3.5L eco boost twin turbo version they still come in a 3.5 V6 version that i wouldnt call fast…. i think it is a great car. a good family car or grocery getter for the 3.5 v6 or the 3.5 eco boost v6. just if you want a little power the Twin Turbo is great.
this will also give you all the info you will need on the car

Q: How do I reset the door lock code on a 2002 ford taurus?
I recently purchased a Ford Taurus and the dealer wants 175$ to reset the door code so I can use the keypad to unlock my car. There has to be a better way any suggestions?
The Owners manual gives no mention of how to reset the code it does direct me to the location of the factory code which should work but its not where is should be and i was unable to locate it
A: Un fortunately on this vehicle the Keyless entry code set at the factory is not located in or on the vehicle. You DO need to have a Ford service center get it for you.
If you bought it at a Ford Dealer, I would suggest talking to your salesperson.
(I ALWAYS provide MY customers with the codes to operate a feature that is standard equipment on the vehicle that they just bought! )
If you did not buy it from a Ford dealer, perhaps you could have somebody contact the original owner & see if they have a record of the code.
If all else fails, $ 175 sounds a little steep! Try calling a couple other Ford Service departments & see if one will hook you up for less.
Q: Why is my 2003 Ford Taurus SE Wagon dying when I come to a stop in the drive position?
I just purchased a 2003 Ford Taurus SE wagon and it needed a little work (starter, battery simple small things) Now.. When coming to a stop sign or being stuck in traffic and coming to a stop on the freeway, my car is okay for a minute, then it starts to shake and die! What is it?
A: Maybe a vacuum leak? The people that did the small things may have left a line loose. Also get the codes scanned to see what might be causing this.
Q: How do you program a keyless entry remote for a 2001 Ford Taurus?
I had to replace the battery in my keyless entry remote for a 2001 Ford Taurus. How do you get it to work with the car again??
A: Hi Bethany
The directions, complete with diagrams, are shown on page 72 of the owners manual.
If you don’t have a manual for your 2001 Taurus, you can download one (free) from the Ford/Lincoln?Mercury Owners Website.
I’ll paste the text from that page for you here, but if you want to have the entire manual (for future reference), you can use the links that i will provide in the “source” area below.
I hope this helps!

Programming remote transmitters
It is necessary to have all (maximum of four — original and/or new) of
your remote transmitters available prior to beginning this procedure.
To program the transmitters yourself:
² Place the key in the ignition and
turn from 2 (LOCK) to 3 (OFF)
and cycle between 3 (OFF) and
4(ON) eight times in rapid
succession (within 10 seconds)
with the eighth turn ending in the
4 (ON) position. The doors will
lock/unlock to confirm that
programming mode has been entered.
² Within 20 seconds, program a remote transmitter by pressing any
button on a transmitter. The doors will lock/unlock to confirm that the
remote transmitter has been programmed. (If more than 20 seconds
pass before pressing a remote transmitter button, the programming
mode will exit and the procedure will have to be repeated.)
² Repeat the previous step to program additional remote transmitters.
The doors will lock/unlock to confirm that each remote transmitter has
been programmed.
² When you have completed programming the remote transmitters, turn
the ignition to 3 (OFF) or wait 20 seconds. Again the doors will
lock/unlock to confirm programming has been completed.

Q: How long did you drive your Ford Taurus?
I have a 1999 Ford Taurus with 175,000 miles on it. It’s in really good shape and has nothing major wrong with it. Should I keep it, or should I start shopping around for a new vehicle? Is it common for Taurus’ to last over 200,000k miles?
A: The biggest problems with the Taurus’s from that time were the transmission and interior. I had about 15 of them in my fleet and half of them needed new transmissions within the 50k mark. Don’t remember any engine problems. However it isn’t unheard of that one could last for a long time. I know someone with over 400k on a 93.
I think by the time of the 99 model year Ford made improvements on the transmission so you may have one of the good ones.
The way the economy is right now I would drive it until the wheels came off. No car payments = peace of mind.
Q: Why does the rear suspension in my 2000 Ford Taurus sag?
I have noticed this to be rather common among the 2000-05 models of the Ford Taurus.
Does anyone know what would cause the rear suspension to go weak and sag over time? It looks like my car has a full rear load, yet I rarely carry anything besides myself and another passenger in front.
A: Years 1998-2003 Ford Taurus Were Equipped With A D.O.T. NON APPROVED Shock System In Rear , You Need To Go To Advanced Auto And Get 2 New Rear Shocks And Struts , And Have Them Installed .
Q: How to fix my 99 Ford Taurus, the wiper blades turn on at random while driving.?
I have a 99 Ford Taurus and randomly while driving the wiper blades will start going. They swipe across the windshield a few times (1-3) then stop.
They work fine when I actually turn them on.
What’s going on?
A: Sounds like the multifunction switch in the steering column is shorting out at times. It controls turn signals, the wipers and hi/lo beams on the lights.
Q: How do i set the memory key in my 1999 Ford Taurus?
My dad owns a taurus, and well since he doesn’t read manuals, and even email technology scares the hell out of him, he never set the memory key for the seats and stuff for his 1999 Ford Taurus. The funny part is he bought it new like 9 years ago, and i thought i should take it upon myself to do it for him. Thanks friends!
A: put the key in the ignition
turn it from off to on and back to off 4 times
done!
