A: On the newer models the number is stamped on the frame. You can see it when you swing the cylinder out. It’s on the frame just below the barrel, covered when the cylinder is closed. You cannot see it until the cylinder is opened.

A: You don’t have to say you’re sorry, she will just understand by the things you do to show her that you care.

Q: How do I turn off the Daytime Running lights on a Taurus?
I am stuck driving a nasty ‘06 rental Taurus while my ‘98 Accord is getting re-painted. I don’t have the Owner’s manual.

I need to find out how to turn off the daytime running lights while rolling through a security checkpoint. The only way I have found to turn them off is to apply the parking brake – but this is not possible when I need to shut them off.
Turning on the parking lights does not work with this Taurus – it may work with other cars though.

I once heard on Click’n'Clack that some GM products switched off their DRLs when the turn signals were used. However, that was a long time ago, befoer DRLs became standard on all(?) new cars.

A: Lisa got it. If you’re are lucky, there might be a fuse labeled, DRL, “day time running-lamp”. Pull that.

My Dodge Sprinter Van has a fuse for each side…My SAAB has no Fuse. My Chevy Venture has one fuse for both sides.

A: I suggest a good manual it does have a airbag so know what you are doing are you could get hurt. You will need a puller but they are not that much.

A: buhrrito is correct. If you’re not willing to get your hands dirty, you should probably look at a different car. I own a 1987 RX-7 and insist on doing my own maintenance, repairs and upgrades (so far, an auto to manual transmission conversion, FD alternator, fuel pump and tires/wheels) because few shops know how to appropriately care for a rotary engine. Also, dealerships are equally ill-equipped as well as most being downright liars, cheaters and thieves. The best place to go for service is a rotary shop like the RX-7 Store in Columbus, Ohio. I’ve talked to the owner there and he’s straightforward and does a good job on every car that comes in.

If you want one still, be prepared to wait 10-15 minutes on EVERY cold start. Not doing this will make the engine crap out early. Also, rotaries use oil by design, so check it weekly and add as necessary. Last, to keep carbon buildup to a minimum, be sure to redline it at least once a week too. Rotaries love to be revved high (after being warmed up). I’d highly recommend perusing the articles on www.rx8club.com and its sister site www.rx7club.com. Once you’ve done your homework (read the Second Generation FAQ on the rx7 club, it’s the best article for a new owner), hop on craigslist and find a good deal.

And for that extra level of protection, I’d highly suggest asking an experienced rotary owner near you to go with you when you look at the car. We can spot an abused/neglected rotary and prevent you from being cheated. Plus, you’ll make some good, honest friends on the RX7/RX8 clubs too.

A: I am a Canadian driver, and I have an 8.
Good tires are a must. They should have a symbol on the side of them, a snowflake or a mountain peak (or both) and the letters ‘M+S’. If they have this, they are mud and snow tires, approved for extreme conditions.
My car handles fine in snow and does well on ice, but a word of caution. Deep snow… turn off the dynamic stability control. The wheels will fight themselves and you get jerked around quite a bit. There is a decent amount of torque in that rear end, and if you are accelerating and the DSC is trying to control your wheels… you spin, dont move, or take off sideways. Hills… turn off the DSC and start off in 2nd.
Do not add weight to the trunk, you dont need it with the near perfect weight distribution.
Keep in mind, this car is lightweight, and although it has great brakes they wont help you too much if you lose control on ice. Keep your speed in mind on highways.

Common issues are flooding, it is prone to it if not started properly (must have a warm up period before shutting the engine off..), the AT has some stalling problems that have hopefully been resolved by now, fuel economy is not that great and premium fuel is recommended. 18MPG is about where you will sit at best. I highly recommend the MT instead, more fun and more horsepower. I assume you are aware of the rotary engine as well, which uses small amounts of oil to run. It must be checked on a regular basis. While some find this aggravating, I love it and consider it a great part of ownership.

There have been several recalls to date, make sure if you buy the 04 they have been updated. It is a great car and once you go rotary, you’ll never go back…

Summertime and the handling will make long winters worth it. Enjoy.

A: The rims are 16×7.5 Base and 18×8 Touring and Up…5 Lugs.
So you can basically go anywhere from 7 – 8.5 in.
To go higher you can always get spacers.

A: In a straight line contest,,,no.

The RX8 was never built to be a “red light racer”. It was designed to be an exceptional road race track car. On the track it would so easily out-brake and out-corner the G35 that it would leave it in the dust.

But in a straight line the G35 would win. Not by a lot, but it would win nonetheless.

Mazda did a very good job at extracting all they could from the Renesis rotary engine. The usual mods (intake/exhaust/header) increase HP very little. You’d need to go forced-induction to get the gains required.

Q: Can’t decide between 2005+ Mustang or Mazda RX-8 – Please Help?
I am looking for a car for under $20k and I can’t decide between the 2005-2007 Mustang or the Mazda RX-8. I love the body style of the RX-8, but I really like the Mustang too. A: The Mustang would be the better choice….even though there is nothing wrong with an RX-8, the Rotary engine has been
perfected to the point that it is very dependable and no longer has the Apex Seal problems of the earlier versions….

A: Take it to a tire repair center with the screw in place. If the screw has punctured the tire removing the screw will let the air out much faster.

Q: Should I buy a 2004 Mazda RX-8 w/ a brand new engine just replaced by Mazda?
A 2004 Mazda RX-8 that I’m looking at needed to have its engine replaced due to a manufacturer default by Mazda. The dealership claims that this replacement motor will be perfect. Does anyone know about Mazda’s replacement motors on RX-8’s? Is it worth buying?

A: It’s very doubtful the motor was replaced due to a manufacturers fault. The rotary engine design is very simple with only 3 moving parts to the basic motor. They either run or they don’t. The engine was highly likely good from the factory, but died because an un-knowledgeable owner killed it. It’s not a piston engine and cannot be treated as such.

If the fresh motor has warranty then I would say “go for it”…but only if you’re willing to learn about rotary engine care & feeding. If you’re going to drive it sedately like most of the other “sheeple” drivers out there then you’ll kill it, too.

A: Are you talking about the factory keyless entry and starting system?

If so, no, it won’t work on the 2004. The 2004 and 2005 came with keyless entry/alarm remotes, but the keyless start remotes came in with the 2006 models.

You could have an aftermarket remote start system installed, though.

I just bought a 1999 Buick Regal GS, which is supercharged. It requires premium unleaded gas. I was curious if I could buy 87 or 89 octane and add a bottle of octane boost. This might be cheaper considering the price of gas these days. Any thoughts?

A: Octanes are suggested for optimal engine performance. You should use what it calls for to maintain a healthy motor.

Q: Where is the starter relay located on a 1996 buick regal?
I have an intermittant starting issue on a Buick Regal. I checked for power at the starter solenoid when the key was in crank, but no dice. Most vehicles have a starter relay that is energised by the key which in turn energised the starter solenoid. Does anyone know where this may be located? I can’t find it.

A: on all the gm vehicles i have ever seen, they do not use a relay to control starter activity. instead they use a solenoid which is very similar in function but quite the same shape. the solenoid is located on the starter it self. if you fallow the positive wire all the way down to the starter you will find that the wire is bolted to the solenoid.

Q: How can I fix a locked ignition in a 2002 buick regal?
I pulled the keys out of my friends 2002 buick regal, and now the ignition won’t turn. The ignition was in the “ON” (not start postion and car not running) postion when the keys were removed.

A: you will need to change the ignition lock cylinder. This could be difficult if cylinder will not turn because you may have to turn it to release the holding pin you could try another key or WD-40 Also use care around air bag.

Q: The security light is on my 2001 buick regal LS wont start how do I fix this?
I have a 2001 buick regal LS. I recently had to change the steering column out and now the care will not start. I am thinking its because the security light is on. Does anyone know how to reset the code to make the security light go off so the car will start? Or if maybe it could be something else?

A: Try this to reset the pass-lock security system.

This is free and all it takes is about 35 minutes of your time. If it doesn’t work, all you are out is a little bit of your time.

First. make sure the battery is fully charged. If you have automatic headlights or daytime running lights disable them and it will help save your battery power. You should find instructions for this in your owner’s manual. You could park the car in the sunlight which would not activate your head lights on most models.

Turn off all of the vehicle accessories. Roll down the windows. You roll down the windows just in case your doors lock while resetting your pass-lock security system.

Place the key in the ignition. Turn the key to the run position but don’t start the engine. Don’t use the accessories position as this will not work.

Leave the ignition in the on position for 10 minutes. At the 10 minute mark the security light will flash.

When the security light flashes turn the ignition off.

Wait a minute

Repeat these steps two more times. Do not start the engine or place the ignition in the accessories position or you will need to start over from the beginning.

After the third time of doing this your security system should be reset.

You say you changed the steering column. If this procedure does not work you may need to take the car to your nearest GM service department and get that “Great GM Feeling”. If you did not install the original ignition switch with the new steering column it is very possible that the new ignition switch needs to be matched with the Pass Lock security system. This can only be done by a GM dealer because this process requires the use of a special scan tool connected to the diagnostic port. Most likely the only person that you will find with this scan tool is a GM dealer.

And no, the Pass Lock 2 security system can not be disabled. It is integrated into the car’s computer systems and can not be bypassed or disabled.

Q: How do I fix the blinker in my 93 buick regal?
I have a 93 buick regal. A few months back the blinker stopped blinking. I checked and replaced any bulbs that were bad, but it didn’t fix the problem. I also changed the fuse. Now it will occasionally blink, sometimes fast, sometimes slow, and then sometimes it just comes on but doesn’t blink. Is there another mechanism that controls this? And if so, how would I go about replacing it? Thanks!

A: I would start with the flasher unit under the dash. After that it sounds like you need the turn signal switch in the steering column.

A: First of all let me comend you on your taste in cars….a regal GS is an awesome car……..as for the question at hand…..I would stop by your local parts store and purchase a “haynes” or “chilton” brand repair manual……both will usually give step-by-step instructions as well as exploded views for your make and model!!!

Q: Does running an 98 buick regal without the super charger cause engine damage?
I looked at an 98 buick regal with 150000 miles on it. The super charger needs replacing (found refurb oem for $1100 online, i have a mechanic for the labor). Car is being sold for 1500. Replacing a supercharger from a dealer is about $3000. I just want to know if there is any damage being done to engine or transmission because the car is being ran without a supercharger.

A: I’m assuming you mean a Turbocharger, in which case it shouldn’t hurt anything, just run like a dog. A car with a Supercharger (Rootes blower or Paxton type) wouldn’t be likely to even start up.

A: Remove the headliner with its fiber board panel. Remove all the headliner material and scrub off any remaining foam particles from the fiberboard, I used 3m scrubbing pads.
JO-Ann fabrics carries headliner material. Buy 4 cans of automotive spray glue. Spray the fiber board and the back of the new headliner material. Use two coats of glue.
Make sure you pre fit the new material. Trim the excess after gluing

A: Push against the upper front edge of the lower seat cushion, down and towards the back at the same time. This may take some effort, especially if it hasn’t been out in a while. Brace yourself and position yourself to get some leverage. Once it moves back an inch or two, lift up and then forward.

Once you have that out, there are a pair of bolts into the floorpan holding the backrest in, but you should be able to access the seatbelts without taking that out. If you do still want to take it out, after removing the bolts, you need to slide the backrest up an an inch or two, then you can pull it forward and out.

You may have to maneuver past and/or remove some armrests and/or window cranks to fully remove the backrest. While you have it off, check the back side of the backrest. There may be a “buildsheet” stuck between the springs and the cushioning material.

A: I have turbo 2003 yellow beetle, and I absolutely love it! I was tempted to get the convertible at first, but I decided against it because:
1) It has a 2 out of 5 star safety rating. It’s a small car, so if you replace the dome (which absorbs the most impact like a school bus dome) with fabric, it really doesn’t help you too much!
2) The gas mileage is not as good

Overall the user ratings for the VW convertible have been relatively good, and the only problem is a minor window problem.
Also, consider that it’s still a german car, so matienance is more expensive for EVERYTHING.
I would consider getting the regular beetle as well. I didn’t think I would ever get the regular, but I love him! He’s my baby! Also think about getting the regular, turbo, or diesel. Turbo definitely takes more gas, but boy is it fun! It’s a classic/fun car designed for Porsche. But however, if you go the convertible route, that’s fun as well!

A: You MAY find a VW Bug in this price range but the upkeep will bust your budget. The Bugs need specialized care at the dealership. I have a 2002 and got some water in my gas and spent $900 getting the car fixed. This is the first car I’ve ever seen that is set up so you cannot change your own oil. The battery STARTS at $200. No standard part fits the Beetle, it takes an odd tire size, premium oil and if you get a TURBO bug it takes PREMIUM gas and will kill you at the gas pump.
All and all I love my bug, it’s adorable. But it’s expensive and I don’t know if I had to do it all over again if I would get a VW Bug.

A: I’ve actually found the Beetles to be pretty roomy on the inside (more space than a mini for sure). if you’re taking a booster seat in and out of the car a lot the two door aspect might be a pain but if you leave it in it’d be fine, plus soon enough she’ll be sitting in a normal seat anyway so it’d be a temporary situation.

They’re very safe cars though and if you maintain it it’ll run very well for a while.

They have a decent amount of space in the trunk. I wouldn’t have problem fitting all my groceries in it.

I have a 1971 vw beetle. It has been restored by the last owner and there seems to be little soundproofing in the engine bay and there is not much on the inside. Can anyone recommend sites/give advice?

A: Hit up your local body shop supply joint for “Q-Pads”. They’re expensive, but they work great. Another cheaper suggestion is rubberized undercoating.
In my last Bug, I hosed down the firewall with undercoat, put on a layer of pads, then covered them with aluminum heat matting for a nice finished look. I also put pads on the inside, under the rug lining the storage bay behind the rear seat. Get under the seat as well. Undercoat inside the doors and rear side panels behind the interior panels. Hose down under the car too. Not just the floorboards, but under the trunk, fuel tank & all 4 fenders. Upgrade the carpets with some sort of thin pad (woven or foam) beneath. A new muffler couldn’t hurt. Make sure your tailpipes are correctly adjusted (No, I’m not kidding. Adjusting them to the correct length reduces noise & sets the correct amount of back pressure).
Spray glue foam pad to the roof panel between it & the headliner. Shoot spray foam (Great Stuff) into the hollow rocker panels & roof ribs. If you do all this, you’ll add probably 30 pounds to the car, but it’ll be a lot quieter.
Remember: these cars (for all the amazing engineering that went into them) are basically just tin cans. They were designed & built to be inexpensive, not quiet & luxurious. Lots of hollow spaces. The slightest chirp or rattle gets amplified inside them.

A: If you mean the seatbelt chime do as one of the other guys told you by disconnecting the battery but in addition, check all fuses including engine fuses but I doubt its that. Also get someone to scan your computer with an obd 2 or i believe its a CAN scanner cable now connected to a computer scanner or get the VW dealer to scan it or if you know somebody that has VAG COM software ask them to run diagnostics and then ask them to turn off the seatbelt chime..YES ITS POSSIBLE ..good luck!

A: Most early VWs you find will be German made. Mexican beetles maintained the 58-64 body style up to 1970, so that should be a dead giveaway. Although bugs were made in Mexico up to recent years, you won’t find any in the US after 1979 (i believe), and they cannot be registered because of safety regulations.

A: It’s kind of luck of the draw. If you can find a diesel one, the engine will last longer. I have a diesel Jetta (same engine as the diesel Beetle) with 172,000 miles on it and it runs fine. And the increased mpg (I’m getting 47 on the highway) will way more than compensate for the slightly higher cost of diesel fuel and the extra cost of the car compared to a gas one.

But, lots of little stuff breaks on VWs. Things like the sensors to tell if a door or the trunk is open, etc. It’s pretty annoying, because it seems like there’s always *something* minor wrong. I’m not basing this off of just my own experience – I have 5 friends with VWs (4 of them also have diesels) and I read www.tdiclub.com a fair bit.

Also a beetle is a type one vehicle. Type 2 is bus truck camper or van. However a typee 2 motor is basically the same as type 1.

A: if it was still new… It wouldn’t change much at all unless of course the new 2013 model that would be out was the same price for superior equipment. If the design remained the same over the 2 years.. it would likely be worth a little less, but it would also depend on warranty.
If it was never sold, then technically the warranty doesn’t start on it until it leaves a lot. so i would guess it would still go for around 20 grand..
If the car was sold, even for a short time, then the warranty would be almost up and your depreciation would be considerably more.. you would be looking at between 16-18 grand.

A: well as a fellow V6 owner I can tell you exactly what you need! (and dont listen to all the V6 haters there just a bunch of macho jerks) here is a long list of parts that are cheap and some that are a little more pricy but well worth the price you can pick and choose from there

COLD AIR INTAKE- a cold air intake usually adds about 8-30hp and 10-30lbs of torque depending on what brand you get know this being a 2011 you may not have much of a choice yet but I would look for airaid,K&N and steeda-they are the leaders in this part and cold air intakes can run anywhere from $200-300 this is about as cheap as it gets to getting a nice hp bounus to your car

MUFFLERS- now I would like to congradulate you on finally buying a V6 with dual exhaust its been a long time coming but one thing to not is that all factory mufflers are restrictive due to chambered designs to make emitions more “green” with a cold air intake you get more air flowing through your engine so you have more air going out and with stock mufflers those tend to choke you up a little in the lower RPM’s when stomp the pedal to the floor so i suggest waiting for BORLA to make V6 2011 replacement mufflers only get borla! borla is a little higher im guessing the price should be 300-500 but is well worth it!!! not only do you get better performance about 15-25hp and 20-30 torque but you get a much more agressive sound that does the V6 justice all other competitors make it sound like a rice buring honda trust me i learned that the hard way

SHORT HEADERS short headers are very optional I dont know what you consider “cheap” so ill throw this out there and you can decide for yourself…there are 2 different kinds of headers (that are any good) there are short headers and long headers but for your case im thinking you dont want to major overhaul your car so i suggest short headers now when buying short headers there are coated and just plain stainless steel-stainless steel is what factory is made of and the coated are ceramic coated stainless steel the regular stainless will get very hot -but so does your factory so dont pay any attention to that but if your wanting to really pay for a good part that will make your car last a lot longer get the coated short headers the ceramic coating keeps the engine teperature much cooler and on a long trip or high tress situations after a liftime of a car the stainless steel can erode parts around it like ignition coil,wires and distributors wich is why you see that problem a lot with 100k plus cars…anyway short headers will allow the air to flow much more freely out of the engine going to your mufflers giving you around 10-20hp and 15-25 torque the stainless steel can run about 200-300 and the coated runs 350-500 but are well worth it in the long run

TUNER- a tuner is the NUMER ONE thing to be shure you get for your new mustang If this is the only thing you get for it you wont be dissapointed tuners are about $400 but they are the best thing for your car! they change the way your car runs (im not a tech wiz so i couldnt tell ya) but it changes the way the CPU runs your engine…ford puts rev limiters and all sorts of regulations on your stock tune that slow your car down and make that needle drag just a little slower the one and only place you should buy this product is at americanmuscle.com they are the number one aftermarket parts dealer for mustangs exclusively – i do not work for them im just a happy custumer- they have great customer service and fast free shipping and i said all that to say this…if you buy a tuner from americanmuscle.com they give you cutom tunes from BAMA chips which is a team of guys that run cars on the dyno and are tech wizzes that now how to make your engine run better than you ever dreamed possible if you buy one anywhere else they send you the tuner and no tune and you have to put in all the info yourself hahaha hope your a gearhead and own a dyno machine…so buy a tuner from americanmuscle.com now if you are afraid of voiding warrantee then there is no problem here! get the tuner you plug it into your car and download the custom tune from bama and lets say you have an engine problem plug it back into your car and you can reload the factory tune its that easy! now just a tuner all by itself with add 30+hp and 30+ torque but the cool part about a tuner is that every performance part ive listed it will double the hp and torque gains so if you get a cold air intake that 20hp and the exhaust mufflers thats 20hp and the headers is another 10 your looking at having about an extra 120hp!!!! thats like putting a supercharger on it!!

A: At the drag strip, you will see your best times by shifting at the redline even though redline is a few hundred RPM higher than the power peak. On the street though, it isn’t necessary.

Oh, and to the guy who said it is pointless to race a V6 Mustang, the 2011 V6 Mustang has 305hp. That’s more than a 2005-2009 GT. It’s also lighter than a 2005-09 GT and has an extra gear in the transmission. The 2011 V6 Mustang isn’t the secretary’s car that V6 Mustangs of the past are.

A: Sure you can install turbos on anything. Most cars can handle at least 4psi which should give you 60-80hp and some cars can handle even more stock. You will need turbos, intercooler, piping, exhaust, blow off valve, wastegate, oil piping and of course bigger fuel injectors fuel pump n maf. and you can say about 15-20hp per psi.

My question: Does anyone know anything about the 2010 Maxima yet? Any pictures? From what I’m hearing, speculations are pointing towards the same thing as the 2009, which makes me want to move now. But there’s always that one thing I don’t want to regret later that I don’t have.

On the other hand, I need a car desperately. Every day, I’ve been hoping to get rides into work. Should I get the 2009 on Tuesday or wait for the 2010??!! When is the 2010 going on sale & is the price going to be the same or less?
Oh man, I saw a bunch more on the road today and last night. I can’t wait to get mine.

However, people are asking me why not look into an IS250 (Lexus) for the same price. I assume it’s because it starts at that price & isn’t fully suped like the Maxima I want.
Also, I’m only considering leasing because I’m 9 months married, and we’re renting an Apartment now. Not sure how much longer we’ll be there or buy a house; but most friends told me that leasing is the least committed – meaning, you’re not committing as much money upfront as if you would have bought the car for such a long time as you are leasing it.

I value the fact that I’m left with nothing in the end, and it sucks. But I’m looking at this as my first crack at leasing; next car I’ll buy. (I bought my last; a 2002 Honda Civic).

A: The Grand Marquis is a freakin’ fuel pig dinosaur. Old OLD design. Underpowered SOHC V8, big heavy cast iron solid live axle out back, Chassis design that dates back to the very early ’80s….. It’s grandma’s car. Skip this unless you wear big wrap around shades, support stockings and blue hair to the bingo hall. (unless it’s a Marauder….then get it.)

The Maxima is the higher end car of the remaining two. That’s not a knock against the Altima which is a good car on it’s own. Just the way Nissan intended it to be.

Im pretty sure its my battery because I have been out of town for 3 weeks and the car was not turned on at all during that time. My husbands car did the same thing.

A: The jumper cables will get you started, but they aren’t for charging the battery. What the other guy said about driving around to charge the battery is what will do it. Also watch for the trouble light on the dash (idiot light), or charge gauge, if your car has one of those. If the light comes on, the battery isn’t being charged by the alternator and that’s the cause of it dying.

If you want to use a charger on the battery, disconnect its ground (-) first to cut the risk of ruining the alternator. Alternators are very expensive. Batteries are much cheaper.

In 2003, the Wolfsburg Jetta slotted in between the GL & GLS editions: had limited options, fairly well loaded for the price and even had a couple things not found in the GLS edition; sport front seats and 16″ special wheels where part of the package. (GLS had 15″ alloys as standard, but did have optional 17″ wheels, but no sport seats ) So, you got the power package of the GLS, (windows, mirrors etc.) am/fm/cd/casette player, trunk net, etc. But, no power sunroof, no optional leather seating or leather wrapped steering wheel, which were the big differences, besides engines: the Wolfsburg had only the 1.8 turbo motor, the GLS had either the 2.0 liter NON turbo four or the 1.8 turbo motor.

If you don’t care about leather or sunroof or having the 1.8 turbo motor, then go for it. Its priced less than a GLS model, then and now and can be a good value used. Personally, the 1.8 motor has been a hot bed of problems if its not cared for correctly; USE THE CORRECT OIL! (special VW approved synthenic oil), run on premium fuel (Its required, NOT just recommended) and has had a history of sludge build up… The 2.0 NON turbo motor is weak, has so-so fuel economy, has a history of high oil consumption (1000 miles per quart of oil is not uncommon), but is long lived and very durable if the oil level is paid attention to. In addition, the 2.0 NON turbo motor is the cheapest to maintain; NO special oil, regular gas and cheaper parts.

I have a VW Jetta 1997 with an automatic transmission. I want to know how to check and fill the Automatic transmission fluid.
VW Jetta does not have a dip stick for the transmission.

A: Start the Jetta’s engine and wait for it to warm up. When the needle on the water temperature gauge sits between the upper and lower mark on the gauge, the engine is sufficiently warm.

Open the hood and pull the looped handle out of the backside of the engine. This is the transmission dipstick, which sits in the transmission filler neck.

Wipe off the end of the dipstick and put it all the way back into the transmission filler neck.

Pull the dipstick back out of the filler neck and check the transmission fluid level. The fluid level should sit between the upper and lower marks on the bottom end of the dipstick.

If you need to add any fluid, you will need a funnel and you fill through the dipstick tube.

Check plug is on driver side of transmission about halfway up. It has an indent in it that you can put the head of a bolt in. Fill till fluid runs out of plug hole

A: i have a 98 jetta, and i removed my bike rack with no problems… im not sure if its the same on everyone, but mine was jus clipped on to the top… the clips are tough since they are on there for a long time, but with two people you should be able to take it off with no problem… jus watch ur fingers, i was too quick a few times and got my fingers and my skin caught! other than that a very easy job

I’ve heard too many complaints of brake squeel noises from use of aftermarket parts. A brake fluid “flush” is NOT necessary. Make sure to check your front springs to see if they are broken where the rubber insulator of the spring contacts the strut. If they are, take it to the Ford to dealer to have Field Service Action 03M02 carried out on your car FOR FREE. The cost of the labour depends on what the going labour rate is in your area. The brakes on your car are relatively easy to replace, so if any place tries to charge any more than 1.5 hours labour, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. Hope this helps.

Well this all started the other day when I took my 2002 ford focus (zts mach edition) out and it was nice day, after a long blustery winter. A: perferably i would choose the altima. they are very reliable,good lookin, easy on gas and powerful for the engine that is in it. just cause it has 141,000 miles definately doesnt mean that its gonna poop any time soon. just make sure that you have it undercoated cause the engines last forever it seems but the bodies rust a little easier.
you can never rely on a ford to last as long…in the engine or on the body.

A: That sounds strange. You might be having problems with the IPC. I recently worked on a 2005 Ford Focus ZXW, and it is still overcharging the battery. A: That little light is the only way that the car’s computer (PCM) can communicate with you. It doesn’t talk, so it comes on to tell you that the PCM has detected a fault or failure in one of the systems or circuits that it monitors.
The SMART thing to do is to retrieve the codes (DTCs) to determine why it is on in the first place. It could be something as simple as a loose fuel cap, or it could be an indication that you have serious trouble headed your way.
Retrieve the DTCs, and with a repair manual follow the proper diagnostic and repair procedures.
REMEMBER——->The code(s) indicate a fault in a circuit or system, and NOT NECESSARILY a specific component. Follow good diagnostic practices to avoid wasted money, effort and time.
